Water Heaters
A permit is required for residential and commercial water heaters, domestic water storage tanks, and boiler replacements. Residential water heater replacements do not require any inspections or fees. Commercial water heaters, domestic water storage tanks, and boiler replacements require a final plumbing inspection and a permit fee.
Application Requirements
The following is needed in order to apply for a permit:
- Completed EZ Permit Application
- A copy of the contract between the homeowner and the contractor (if one is being used).
- Homeowner Affidavit if homeowner is doing any of the work themselves
Fees
- No Fee (for residential replacements)
- Permit Fee of $70 due upon permit issuance (for commercial water heater, domestic water storage tank, and boilers only).
Permit Requirements
- All contractors listed on no-fee permits must be licensed in accordance with Title 3, Chapter 8 of the Village Code.
- All commercial plumbing work must be performed by an Illinois State licensed plumbing contractor.
- Homeowners are allowed to perform plumbing work on their own plumbing systems.
