Commuter Parking Information
For those who choose to use Metra's Rock Island train line, Mokena is served by several commuter parking lots. Public lots are operated on a first-come, first-served basis at a cost of $2.00 per day. Payments can be made at fare boxes or electronically through the ParkMobile application, beginning February 27th, 2023. Simply insert your payment in the numbered slot of the fare box which corresponds to your parking space. Fees are collected each weekday. If you intend to leave your vehicle in the lot overnight, please contact the Police Department by calling (708) 479-3912 or by emailing [email protected]. Be aware that you are required to pay the fee for the additional day. Weekends and Holidays are free.
Paying With ParkMobile
The ParkMobile app allows users to pay for parking directly from your mobile device. Simply follow the directions on the ParkMobile Zone signs located near the fare boxes and Metra stations. The ParkMobile app will alert you 15 minutes prior to your parking time expiring. It also allows you to remotely extend your parking. Download the app from the ParkMobile website or through your mobile device app store.
Please note that payments for parking must be made prior to boarding the train to ensure full payment is authorized. This applies to fare boxes and online Parkmobile payments.
Downtown Commuter Lots:
Daily parking is available at:
- Front Street Metra Lot: Located on the south side of Front Street, between Wolf Road and Mokena Street.
- Mokena Metra Station Parking Lot: Located adjacent to the train station and accessible from McGovney Street.
- Village Hall Parking Lot: Located at the Mokena Village Hall, corner of Division and Carpenter streets.
A limited number of leased parking spaces are available in the gravel lot on McGovney Street. These spaces are rented on a quarterly basis, at a rate of $120 per quarter. A placard is required to park in this lot. For more details, please call (708) 479-3900.
Hickory Creek Commuter Lot:
Additional public commuter parking is available at the Hickory Creek Metra Station located northeast of the intersection of LaGrange Road and 191st Street on Hickory Creek Drive.
Private Commuter Lot:
One privately-operated commuter parking lot is available. All details regarding fees, rules, and other information may be obtained from the operator of the lot.
